Um...
In the second cell the character has gray hair and a purple hat, but in the third cell the character has purple hair without a hat.
That is probably symbolic to indicate the changing role of hats and head warmers in our society.

I dont think thats a purple hat, I think it's one a' those hairstyles where its shaved on bottom and long on top, and the top part is dyed purple.
purple hat or not, the bottom line is: dogs need a good punch in the throat every once in a while... you know, keep 'em in line. lol. i love these posts!

Re: the hat/headwarmer thing: I think the 'young Jeffrey' in those two panels had the kind of layer hairstyle where the top is dyed purple and the bottom is a different color, in this case black.
Jeffrey, just how old are you? Did the kids even wear their hair like that then?
