Mitch Died

So powerful was the death of the Feeding Tube Lady that it also took out Mitch Hedberg. If you never heard Mitch he was an extremely good comedian.

Also Spanglish is an incredibly magnificent movie.

Nice to see that Overcompensating is becoming ever more true-to-life as a journal comic. I think Jeff is having a die-off competition with Shelly from Scary-Go-Round.

it's somewhat refreshing to hear that someone cared enough about feeding tube lady to crap out in sympathy. too bad it had to mitch. and the japanese metal guy, too.

And also the drummer from the Ataris, Bad Astronaut, and Lagwagon, but I think that was more because he was in the Ataris than anything.

Make God laugh Mitch, alternatively, make eternal nothingness laugh.

Dude. Right now, I think you're pretty much the funniest person in the world. Hope that doesn't put you off. :-)

My guess is, he smoked too much pot, and thought of the funniest joke ever, and subsequently laughed his head off. RIGHT OFF.

Mitch is (was) my favorite comedian; just wish he'd done a show up where I live. Never got a chance to see him live.

Thanks for incorporating him into Overcompensating, Jeff (maybe Mitch will pop into the strip every once in a while?).

I heard that the family was told he died of a heart attack, but that's not 100% confirmed.

And here I was thinking that I was dead, and I was sorta sad. But then I found out that Mitch Hedberg was gone, and now I'm REALLY sad. I'll always remember his comparison between Smokey the Bear and Smacky the Frog. Maybe he will come settle down next to me...

Rest In Peace, man.

A few weeks ago I had a choice to either come visit my parents or go see Mitch Hedberg live. I thought, "I'll catch Mitch the next time he's in town." My parents are alive and well. Apparently I am a very bad decision maker.

correction to daniel/lizking's comment.

it was billy, the bass player for pretty well known japanese rock and roll/punk band guitar wolf, who are awesome.

Ive been there. I was in NYC in July 2001 and passed up seeing the twin towers.

But Mitch is a loss. Very sad. I'll never be able to look at an escalator without thinking "Escalator temporarily stairs."

You're just the coolest person for making a comic about it. Mitch was awesome and it's very sad to see a talent like that go.

For those wondering, Mitch had a pretty big problem with heroine, so much so that he nearly had to have his leg amputated. Or so I heard. I miss the big guy.

Referring to what Megan said...

I had a similar situation that went the other way.

Douglas Adams was going to do a "lecture" at my friend's school (Michigan Tech). I really wanted to go, but my parents didn't think it was a good idea. They said I should wait and see if he would come somewhere closer (I live in the St. Paul area). But I finally convinced them and went.

It was a great "lecture", and I got him to sign my well-worn copy of the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide. 2 weeks later he died of a heart attack.

The moral, clichéd though it may be: Carpe Diem.

There are few instances in which I cry at the news of someone's death; this is one of them.

I'm very upset.

It's kinda sad that i had to find out about Mitch from you. It's like the news corparations didn't even care about him. Thanks Jeff.

Yeah, a real shame. But, zach, since when did news corporations care about anybody?

*tear* At least I got to see him live a few months ago... he kept wrapping himself up in the curtain and doing jokes behind it.

I heard he either died of a heroin overdose, or a heart attack.

Maybe it was a heart attack caused by heroin, I don't know.

"I used to do drugs. I still do drugs, but i used to, too."

Rest in peace, Mitch.

This is by far the shittiest week of my life. FIrst finding out about Paul Hester (the drummer for Crowded House for those of you who don't know) and now Mitch. I am truely praying that nbody else I adore kicks it this week. I may not be able to come out of the depressive coma it would send me to.

You're a bit premature for an April Fool's joke on that Spanglish comment Jeffrey.

JEFF you wrote that thing on your blog there about the movie and so this afternoon I downloaded it and viewed it and it was VERY SENTIMENTAL. You should have a <<**VS**>> warning on that kind of material.
