The Large Hadron Collider

I hope this is the first comic that's been done regarding the Large Hadron Collider, which makes me comfortably nervous. Basically what they are going to try to do with the LHC is to create a form of matter that is more stable than actual matter, and also create a stable black hole. On Earth.

But I'm serious about instantaneously perishing. It seems to be the way to go.

In other news, the new cover for Edition 2 of Wigu: The Bravest Boy in the World has been designed and oh my goodness I can't wait to start working on Wigu again.

Spot the difference? I haven't found any yet but I'll keep trying.

I prefer a Heat apocalypse. Where all matter in the universe is eventually converted to heat energy.

rwr, that wasn't very funny. It was really just sad.

So sad. A MILLION SADS!

OH GOD I'M SO SAD NOW

BECAUSE INTERDIMENSIONAL UV LIGHT IS RADIATING THROUGH ME

WHICH CAUSES EMOTIONS TO BE AMPLIFIED

UV LIGHT DOES THAT YOU KNOW

...
But the Hadron collider is cool.

Universe-2? Universe-1?
This has something to do with that DC crisis thing right? I don't read as many super-hero funnies anymore so I'm a little out of the loop.

What sort of pushover universe lets itself be called "Universe-2", anyway? I'm not listening to any mind-blowing cross-dimensional energy pulses from universes other than 1, A, and possibly 0.

So I can tell that i'm not the only one who's super fucking scared about this. This is like when they were going to test the world's first nuke, and they were worried it would create a chain reaction that would destroy the entire earth, so they did it anyway. Except this is sort of inevitably dangerous.

I'm more excited about Wigu: Volume One being available again than I am worried about being crushed into a singularity. I almost feel like I shouldn't even be here.

Oh noes!

A microscopic black hole that will evaporate instantly!

I cannot tell you how incredibly scared I am by that, because I'm out of synonyms for "not at all".

It sounds like you people haven't been keeping up on your John Titor. Didn't our favorite Soldier From The Future talk about the LHC quite a lot? And he didn't seem worried about it :)

You know, they're not actually trying to do any of those things. Those have just been highlighted as potential pitfalls. They're actually working on much less destructive but much more interesting questions.

As it happens the potential risks represented by the LHC are all based on theories which have yet to be experimentally confirmed, and many of them are prohibited by other, yet to be confirmed theories. So it's just as likely to destroy us all in an entirely unexpected manner.

hey hey hey...c'mon now - don't panic.

I was sent here from the other Universe to make sure nothing bad happened. My team on the other side managed to diffuse the beam so you'd all be safe.

Sadly I'm stuck on your side now - it's all very strange and different and I feel very alone and vunable.

...and how come you guys don't have flying cars? And where's President Hilton? and what the hell is "Tofu"?

it's all so crazy.

I can't wait for you to work on Wigu again, either, sir.

Oh, I enjoy Overcompensating, too, but Wigu is in a class by itself.

Did you mess up the alt text in this one, or is there a joke there that I'm not getting?
